Why did we start our open source program?
Our Mission
The easy answer is: Because we want to. ​​Over the last 20+ years, CHECK24 is building successful products on top of amazing open source projects. We are convinced that with financial success comes the obligation to give something back. In the past, our contributions were mostly based on the effort of individual employees and their personal enthusiasm for open source. Now the time is right to contribute at a larger scale.
The more serious answer is: Because we have to.​ Since our products are based on open source, we have a huge self interest to ensure that these projects are well-maintained and stable for the foreseeable future. In fact, our success depends on it.
As a company, we aim to support open source projects that have helped us to build the products our users use and enjoy every day.

Becoming the market leader for holiday packages in Germany came with extreme scaling challenges. ProxySQL helped us to handle the extreme surge in database load to keep growing.
What kind of projects do we support?
Our Focus
CHECK24 is dedicated to drive digitalization, particularly in markets that have not yet fully embraced digital solutions. We create value by structuring and solving real-world problems faced by real people. To fulfill our purpose we support those, who help us or others in achieving these goals.
Ultimately, our financial contribution should help projects to focus on solving real world problems.
Among the many outstanding open source projects out there, we have decided to focus our efforts on projects where our support can really make a difference, i.e. those that are not yet backed by substantial funding or successful business models.
Supporting the development of projects that might otherwise lack the necessary resources to thrive will create the greatest impact of our investment.
